Founder, Blackwood Educational Land Institute For more than two decades, Cath has championed regenerative agriculture as both a science and a story. One that begins in the soil and extends to every classroom, kitchen, and community table. Guided by the belief that education is an act of stewardship, Cath built Blackwood to model a more reciprocal relationship between people and the planet. Under her leadership, Blackwood has grown from its 33-acre Landfarm in Hempstead to include the rooftop Skyfarm at POST Houston — bridging rural and urban worlds through hands-on learning, food system innovation, and hope for the next generation. A storyteller, mentor, and lifelong environmentalist, Cath continues to inspire students, farmers, and changemakers alike to see the land not just as a resource, but as a teacher. Her work reminds us that regeneration begins with the simple act of paying attention — to the soil beneath us, and to the communities that grow from it."
