Multi-County Fruit Tree Seminar Event Details

February 3 at Winedale Historical Complex, at the Dolph Briscoe Center for American History in Winedale.

Dr. Larry Stein, Professor and Extension Horticulturist will be the main speaker, and will cover a wide range of topics; including varieties, selection, pruning, and planting demonstrations. The agenda will also include visual demonstrations of these practices in Winedale’s orchard. Refreshments and handouts will be provided. Registration is from 1:00-1:30 pm and the program will run from 1:30 to approximately 5:00 pm. A registration fee of $15 will be charged at the door to help defer the cost of refreshments and materials. For more information contact the Fayette County Extension Office at (979) 968-5831.

Multi-County New Landowner Educational Workshop Event Details

The Austin, Colorado, Fayette, and Washington County offices of Texas AgriLife Extension Service will continue their educational program targeting new landowners on Friday, February 17, 2012. This program will be held at the Fayette County Ag Building at 255 Svoboda Lane in LaGrange. The program begins at 1:30PM and will include information on Rural Laws and Codes. During this program, participants will hear from the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University on Property Liability and Leasing, the Texas Department of Public Safety on Farm Vehicle Laws, the Special Ranger for the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association on Livestock Theft Prevention, the Game Warden for Texas Parks and Wildlife Department on Game Laws, the Fayette County Environmental officer on County Environmental Regulations, and County Extension Agents on Private Pesticide Applicator License Training.

Woodlands, Wildlife, and Drought Program Event Details

A Woodlands, Wildlife, and Drought Landowner Workshop will be held February 25, 2012 at the Cat Spring Agricultural Society Hall. Registration will begin at 8:30 am with the program to follow. After hearing from a great line-up of speakers on topics related to woodlands management and eating a catered lunch we will conclude around 3:00 pm.
Through sponsorships and partnerships with The Texas AgriLife Extension Service, the Houston Zoo, and the Texas Forest Service this program is FREE of charge and will be a great chance for landowners to get useful information for their property.
We do ask that you RSVP by contacting the Colorado County Extension Office at (979) 732-2082 by February 20, 2012 so we will have an accurate head count for meals and reference materials.
